Three Israelis injured by IDF while in vehicle that aroused suspicion at West Bank checkpoint

The vehicle was said to have aroused suspicion. The victims ages are said to be 17, 18, and 24 respectively.

Three Israeli civilians were injured by IDF soldiers while in a vehicle at a checkpoint in the settlement of Beit El near Ramallah in the West Bank on Monday night.

The vehicle was said to have aroused suspicion. The victims ages are said to be 17, 18, and 24 respectively, according to KAN. The 18-year-old was shot in the shoulder and in moderate condition, while the other two were slightly injured by shrapnel.

All three were evacuated for treatment, with the 18-year-old being evacuated to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, Walla reported.

An investigation has been opened regarding the incident.

IDF statements in the investigation

While soldiers were checking a suspicious motorcycle, a white vehicle with a yellow license plate arrived at the checkpoint and that the suspects did not answer, the IDF said. Forces fired into the air and the three began to run away. Finally one of the soldiers shot at the windshield of the vehicle and as a result two Israelis were injured from shrapnel.

The IDF spokesman issued a statement after the incident: "IDF soldiers operating in the area fired a short time ago on a vehicle identified by the forces as suspicious.

"After a preliminary investigation it turned out that the shooting was carried out accidentally at an Israeli vehicle."
