Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan hosted a Hamas delegation on Saturday evening in Ankara and discussed efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza, Turkish state media reported. Hamas's delegation was led by Muhammad Ismail Darwish, head of Hamas’s Political Council.

After Saturday's meeting with Fidan, Turkish and Hamas officials "called for increased international pressure to ensure the unimpeded delivery of food, medicine, and essential supplies to Gaza," state media TRT said.

Both Fidan and Darwish "strongly condemned" what they described as Israel's alleged efforts to "forcibly displace Palestinians."

The meeting also discusses the West Bank, with Turkey warning that Israel's "actions to cement the occupation have reached dangerous levels, posing a direct threat to long-term regional stability and peace efforts," TRT reported.

The two parties also called for Palestinian unity, and "efforts to foster reconciliation between Palestinian factions" were on the agenda of the meeting, according to TRT.

Meeting between Hamas and Turkey's chief spy

Hamas's delegation, which included senior Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, also met with the head of Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MIT), Ibrahim Kalin, according to a statement released by the terror group.

According to TRT, the talks between Hamas and Kalin were "focused on coordinating humanitarian aid efforts and reinforcing international cooperation to address the dire conditions facing Gaza’s 2.3 million residents."

"The discussions also highlighted Turkey's readiness to mobilize further resources and diplomatic channels to expedite aid," TRT added.

During the meeting, Kalin reaffirmed Turkey's opposition to "any plans to forcibly displace the population of Gaza," with TRT adding that the meeting "reviewed the status of international initiatives aimed at securing a lasting and comprehensive ceasefire."

This meeting also reiterated Ankara's "rejection of Israel's expansionist policies and emphasized Ankara's commitment to opposing any attempts at occupation or annexation," TRT added.

"The delegation also addressed the occupation's crimes in the West Bank, particularly in Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as the organized displacement operations carried out by the occupation army in the refugee camps in the northern West Bank," Hamas's official social media added.
