An IDF soldier from the 931st Battalion in the Nahal Brigade was seriously wounded on Saturday night in the northern Gaza Strip in a fight that broke out with a fellow soldier, the IDF said Sunday.

The soldier was reportedly hit with a kettle in Beit Lahiya, according to Walla.

He was evacuated to Ichilov Hospital for medical treatment, and his family has been notified of the incident.

The second soldier was reportedly suspended from service, according to Army Radio, and the IDF military police have launched an investigation into the incident.

An IDF officer commented on the situation on the ground, saying that due to soldier fatigue, the atmosphere is very tense.

"Things can escalate very quickly, and that's why we need leadership at the front. A lot of conversations. Platoon commanders must be alert to what their soldiers are going through in the field," the officer said.

He further explained that the situation is even more tense among reservists.

"The situation for the reservists is much more strained—there is real burnout there. Their reserve duty must be time-limited. It has to be clearly defined in advance."

Additional reports on wounded soldiers in Gaza

An IDF tank commander was wounded by Hamas terrorists on Thursday, also in the northern part of the Strip.

The IDF's 401st Brigade killed the terrorists who fired on the commander just minutes later.

The Defense Ministry said in March that 16,000 soldiers have been wounded in the war that started in October 2023, and that they expected the number of overall wounded soldiers in Israel's history to reach over 100,000 in 2030.
