Gov't approves financial assistance to move embassies to Jerusalem

The government approved funding to support embassies moving to Jerusalem.

The Israeli government approved a proposal to provide financial assistance to encourage and support foreign embassies that desire to move to Jerusalem, according to a statement made by the Foreign Ministry and Jerusalem Affairs and Jewish Tradition Ministry. 

The proposal was submitted by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar and Jerusalem Affairs and Jewish Tradition Minister Meir Porush. 

As a part of the proposal, millions of shekels will be invested as an incentive for the foreign embassies, according to a statement made by Sa'ar and Porush. 

The statement continued, "The encouragement and assistance will include, among other things, participation in funding expenses related to the establishment or relocation of embassies to Jerusalem, as well as providing housing and planning solutions as needed."

Proposal seeks to encourage meetings and delegations in Jerusalem 

Furthermore, the proposal includes "the encouragement of holding meetings and delegations in the city of Jerusalem, and the promotion of cooperation in other fields."

Porush ended the statement by saying that "We will continue to encourage and assist countries that recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel to express that recognition through action."
