Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s testimony in his criminal trial ended after about an hour on Wednesday after he complained of feeling unwell. He was examined by a doctor, and the judges and lawyers adjourned.

Testimony in Netanyahu’s trial began on Tuesday morning behind closed doors due to the sensitivity of the information disclosed.

Case 1000 concerns the nature of Netanyahu’s relationships with Australian billionaire James Packer and billionaire Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan.

Netanyahu on trial

He is on trial for allegedly pushing for several regulatory changes that would have benefited Milchan, who allegedly gave him expensive champagne and cigars as gifts.

Milchan and Packer shared the same personal assistant, Hadas Klein, who has become a state’s witness and whose testimony is key in the prosecution’s case. The trial is scheduled to continue next week.

Meanwhile, members of the coalition scrambled to convince the haredi (ultra-Orthodox) parties not to support dissolving the Knesset.

The haredi parties are threatening to carry through with their threat over the coalition’s inability to agree on fundamentals for a draft law.
