Continuing Iran-US nuclear talks is unjustifiable while "barbarous" Israeli attacks persist on the country, Iranian state media cited Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi as saying on Saturday.

On Friday, Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the dialog with the US over Tehran's nuclear program is "meaningless" after Israel's biggest-ever military strike against on Iran, accusing Washington of supporting the attack.

On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated that Israel's preemptive attack on Friday disrupted ongoing diplomatic efforts and nuclear negotiations with the United States.

“We were in the middle of a diplomatic process and engaged in consultations with our Omani counterpart to prepare for a new round of talks with representatives of the US government, but the Israeli regime’s acts of aggression—including attacks on Iran, assassination of military commanders, and killing of civilians and academic elites—derailed the diplomatic path,” the Iranian FM published in a Saturday X/Twitter post.

On Friday evening, Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar spoke by phone with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. Jaishankar mentioned recent discussions with his French counterpart and emphasized the need to strengthen international efforts to reduce regional tensions.

Araghchi also held a phone conversation with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy regarding the recent Israeli attacks on Iran to prevent nuclear development, in which the Iranian leader rejected calls for Iranian restraint, stating that Iran will respond firmly and decisively.

Araghchi criticized European countries for supporting Israel’s aggression, warning of serious consequences for regional and global security. Araghchi detailed Iran’s efforts to call an emergency UN Security Council session and urged urgent action, particularly from the UK, to condemn and stop the attacks.

Lammy expressed regret over rising tensions and emphasized the need for all parties to exercise restraint and pursue diplomatic solutions.

Separately, on the same day, the Iranian FM conversed with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss the recent Israeli military actions. Araghchi stated that Iran's armed forces would respond decisively to the attacks, invoking the country’s right to self-defense. According to the Iranian foreign ministry, Abdelatty condemned the Israeli strikes.

UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone call to discuss recent Israeli attacks on Iran. The UAE condemned the strikes as violations of Iran’s sovereignty and international law, warning they threaten regional stability. Araghchi thanked the UAE and affirmed Iran’s commitment to defend its sovereignty and respond firmly to Israel's preemptive strike.
