Various branches within Israel's Defense Ministry have made strides in a joint effort to repair areas of the border fence and clear ordnance from the area, the IDF said on Thursday.
"During the past few weeks, we have been establishing the surveillance system under threat and in a task-oriented and determined manner,” Brigadier General Ofir Abram, Commander of Battalion 414 said. “Our forces are constantly working to repair the assets, locate the enemy, and destroy it."
The effort, dubbed “Returning Eyes to Gaza,” has been ongoing since the outset of the Gaza War.
The effort nears completion
Now, the project is nearing completion, and the IDF said that its technological assets, such as its communication capabilities in the area, have nearly been fully restored.
"We have all mobilized for the mission, and we are operating around the clock and in any required location,” Lieutenant Colonel Tomer Shraiber, Commander of the Rehabilitation and Maintenance Center said. “ We will continue to work together in cooperation to strengthen control in the region."
Head of the Defense Systems Division in the Border Management and Border Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant Colonel Adar Cohen added, “Preliminary preparedness, intensive work, and the commitment of our personnel have led to almost full coverage as it was before the war. Our personnel work 24/7 under fire, in the most dangerous places, to restore the situation and support the division's efforts in defense and offense. We will continue to work together as required."
