Home Front Command implements new warning system for Israeli residents ahead of missile attack
The IDF confirmed that the advance warning was not distributed due to a technical malfunction when two were killed and over 20 were wounded in an attack.
The Home Front Command has implemented a new system for alerting Israeli residents to an Iran attack as of Saturday.
Ahead of an attack, the Home Front Command will notify residents 15 to 30 minutes in advance to stay near a protected shelter.
At the 10-minute mark, a loud siren will be triggered on the Home Front Command application when missiles are launched.
A minute and a half before the attack, sirens will sound on the application, as well as in localities.
Operational malfunction
Two people were killed and 21 others were wounded, two of them seriously, when an Iranian missile made a direct hit on a residential neighborhood in central Israel before dawn on Saturday. Later during the day, the IDF confirmed that the advance warning was not distributed due to a technical malfunction.Residents complained that they received no prior alert from the Home Front Command’s advance-warning system and heard only the standard air-raid siren after the explosion. The IDF said it is examining the failure.
