Security forces shut down navigation system apps using GPS amid Iranian attacks
"They mainly target metropolitan areas. We see that most of their fire is aimed at the Haifa metropolitan area, the Dan metropolitan area, and the Be'er Sheva region."
All navigation applications have been shut down in Israel as a result of Iranian strikes on residential centers throughout Israel, a senior military officer said on Monday.
"Regarding Waze – all apps that work on GPS are not working right now. Regarding the location of shelters, each local authority publishes where its protected spaces are located," the officer said.
"We are entering the fourth day, after another challenging night. At 4:00 a.m., there was another barrage of about 40 rockets, which resulted in eight deaths and 95 wounded. A central site in Petah Tikva saw four killed, Haifa saw three killed, and one was killed in Bnei Brak. In total, we are standing at 24 civilian casualties, and we are still making an effort in Bat Yam to locate a missing person. I estimate that in the coming hours, we will also find her body, and the death toll will rise to 25."
"The other side is trying to launch large barrages and concentrate efforts. Their barrages are smaller than they would like, and the Israeli air force is succeeding in thwarting and hitting many of their targets. In each barrage, about 5-10% of the rockets stray, falling partly in open areas and partly in built-up areas.
"They mainly target metropolitan areas. We see that most of their fire is aimed at the Haifa metropolitan area, the Dan metropolitan area, and the Be'er Sheva region," the senior military official added.
Impacts from half a ton large rockets
"Regarding the impacts themselves – we're talking about large rockets, half a ton, and with the inertia, the impact is significant. One characteristic is the impact itself, very powerful, and the second characteristic is the blast wave. When this half-ton explodes, it creates a lot of blast that affects dozens of buildings in the area."We see a difference between a hit in built-up areas and a hit in open spaces. Even with severe impacts on weak buildings, we haven't had a whole building collapse yet. It does create significant damage, but the buildings continue to stand. The blast wave causes significant damage that makes it impossible to return to live there."
