A boarded up storefront on the capital's main drag Jaffa Rd. featured a 'Coming soon, we can't wait to meet you' sign on Sunday adorned with the logo of famed coffee chain Starbucks.Once the Jerusalem Municipality posted a photo of the sign along with a message that a Starbucks branch would be opening in a month, social media of the local Jerusalem Anglo variety exploded. Coffee aficionados who don't think there's enough java variety already within arm's distance on Israel's street were a-twitter.Unfortunately for lovers of seven-dollar frappuccinos, the municipality later confirmed that the post was, in fact, an April Fools prank and that the sign in the picture had been photoshopped onto the building. The last time Israelis met Starbucks, it didn't go so well. In 2001, the international chain opened six branches in the Tel Aviv area, but within two years, they had all closed. Many surmised that the blends were too bland for the Israeli palate.See more oncoffee|April Fool's|StarbucksRECOMMENDED STORIESIDF warns of upcoming strikes on Yemen ports, Flotilla activists await deportationJUNE 9, 2025Iran carried out implosion tests for nuclear weapons development, IAEA reportsJUNE 8, 2025IDF footage exposes Hamas's brutal public execution of Gaza dissenterJUNE 8, 2025Greta Thunberg's 'Madleen' docks in Ashdod port, crew offered to watch Oct. 7 footageJUNE 9, 2025
