Twisted magnetic field observed around Milky Way's central black hole
Black holes are extraordinarily dense objects with gravity so strong that not even light can escape, making viewing them extremely challenging.
This image shows the polarised view of the Milky Way black hole. The lines overlaid on this image mark the orientation of polarisation, which is related to the magnetic field around the shadow of the black hole.(photo credit: EUROPEAN SOUTHERN OBSERVATORY/HANDOUT VIA REUTERS)
