Just days after October 7th, Wix's designer guild initiated the Design Duty project, now launching "Memory Design," a toolkit and discourse for processing national mourning, memory, and hope.

The project offered 300 active designers in the company tools to express the anger, shock, and grief that engulfed Israeli society. Dozens of works uploaded to the project's website and Instagram profile were powerful and sensitive, quickly spreading across social networks as tools for explanation and emotional expression. Within a few days, the entire Israeli design community was invited to submit works. The project became communal.

Hundreds of Design Duty works received millions of exposures, some from educators who chose to use visual imagery as tools for conveying complex messages to youth.

The kit includes visual depictions created by designers from the Israeli design community, intended for guides, educators, and anyone seeking tools for emotional and creative discourse with youth, elevating the conversation.

The project, born as a tool for self-expression within the design community, carries an additional, significant, and powerful meaning of contribution to the community.

Wix's organizational development team, together with the company's design department, developed the discourse toolkit and activities "Memory Design," with the aim of making it accessible as a tool for educators in Israel leading up to Memorial Day.

Moran Kadusi, Head of Content Strategy at Wix, states, "The 'Design Duty' project wasn't born as a classic explanatory project - it's emotional, stemming from the heart, and that's how people experienced it. Towards Memorial Day, it's important for us to make it accessible to younger audiences to enable a different perspective on the pain that still affects us all. We hope educators will find creative ways in this activity kit to touch on subjects that continue to accompany us due to the ongoing war and the crisis of the missing."

Wix produced hundreds of kits for distribution to educators who opt for it, and on the special website it established, one can also download a kit for independent printing. The kit is a small part of Wix's activities and efforts to support Israeli society during the complex period we are in.
