Palestinian attempts to strangle IDF soldier at Allenby border crossing

A 35-year-old Palestinian attempted to strangle a soldier at the Allenby border crossing between Jordan and Israel on Wednesday, according to an IDF spokesperson.

The Palestinian, a resident of Nablus who was returning from Jordan, attacked the soldier and tried to strangle him with a phone cord. The soldier – who was in civilian clothing – managed to break free, and security guards at the site arrested the terrorist and transferred him to security forces for questioning.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Video of the incident shows the soldier speaking on the phone when the Palestinian suddenly ran up to him and struggled with him for a few seconds until the soldier managed to escape as the Palestinian ran after him.

The soldier was at the Allenby Bridge as part of a routine military mission.
