Ukraine's military said its forces came under repeated attack on Wednesday around the town of Pokrovsk, where Russian forces are pressing for a breakthrough, but said it was inflicting losses on the attackers.
In a statement, the military general staff said there were 46 Russian attacks on the Pokrovsk front over the course of Wednesday; of these, 44 were repelled and two were still underway as of 1900 GMT.
It also said 238 Russian troops were killed or wounded in the same area on Wednesday. It did not disclose Ukrainian losses.
