Three people were killed in a fire that broke out in a residence in the Arab village of Deir-al-Asad in northern Israel between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Two of the victims were a woman and her 10-year-old son.

At least ten other people were also wounded in the incident in various conditions ranging from light to serious, Army Radio reported the following morning.

One of them, an eight-year-old girl who arrived at the hospital in critical condition, later died of her wounds.

Third victim was a three-year-old

Another victim of the fire, a three-year-old boy, was taken to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya in serious condition, with third-degree burns on about 70% of his body. The toddler is in serious condition from smoke inhalation.

The Northern District Fire and Rescue Spokesperson said that five firefighting teams were operating at the scene of the fire at a private home in the Central Galilee village.

Earlier on Friday, firefighting teams halted the spread of a fire that erupted in a valley near Jerusalem, the Fire and Rescue Authority confirmed.

Several ignition points near Nablus indicated that an arsonist sparked the fires.

A fire had also broken out in Haruvit Forest in central Israel. Firefighters from the Ashdod Regional Station, with the assistance of teams from the Jerusalem District, are currently working to contain the fire.
