On Friday, May 16, Bike to Work Day was marked worldwide—a day intended to encourage workers to use bicycles as a daily means of transportation. The goal of the day is to promote the integration of cycling into daily routines, with consideration for its potential effects: Reducing air pollution, easing traffic congestion, and improving physical activity.

In Israel, recent years have seen a trend of improvement in bicycle-friendly infrastructure, through the development of dedicated bike paths, designated parking spaces, and the promotion of municipal and governmental initiatives that support the field.

At Decathlon, they note that cycling is not just a sport activity but also a means of transportation that reflects the company’s values, including accessibility to physical activity, environmental responsibility, and community. To that end, the chain offers a range of services, including bicycle repair workshops at all of its branches, as well as a central workshop in Caesarea.

The workshops provide maintenance and diagnostics services for all types of bicycles, including those not purchased at Decathlon. Services include basic repairs such as fixing flat tires and adjusting systems, as well as more complex repairs. Diagnostics are provided free of charge, and payment for service is based on the type of repair and with no obligation to purchase parts.

In addition to maintenance services, Decathlon offers a variety of bicycle models and accessories tailored for urban riding and daily use, as part of its effort to encourage a shift to non-motorized personal transportation.
