The website used by United Hatzalah to collect donations for lifesaving equipment was targeted by a cyberattack on Monday night, according to the emergency service.
"We are unclear what the source is, whether it is from Hamas, or another party, but this is causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations for much-needed medical supplies to be lost," stressed United Hatzalah.
Eli Beer, the president and founder of United Hatzalah, stated that "this is horrible, and is preventing us from being able to resupply our volunteers in the field and preventing us from saving lives. We are doing everything we can to fix the problem."
"To be clear, our website's security system is working effectively, and this wasn't a hack, it is a cyberattack that floods the system with tens of thousands of requests per second and prevents people from accessing it and making donations. For the time being, anyone wishing to make a donation please use a new site that we have set up to allow interested parties to still donate."
