Protesters demonstrating against the government and for the return of the hostages blocked Begin Road in Jerusalem on Monday.
Seven people were detained by police, according to Maarach Otef Atzurim, a legal aid organization that provides free services to protesters.
“The government has been operating without the people for months. Most of the people demand the end of the coup, the return of the hostages, a state commission of inquiry, and the restoration of the mandate to the people.
The government lost the public’s trust even before October 7, certainly after it,” protest organization Meshanim Kivun said.
Some demonstrators chanted for a “deal now,” while others could be heard calling out corruption in the government.
Protesters also demonstrated on Aza Street near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence, from where they made their way toward the Knesset. Demonstrators held banners there that read, “The Qatari Embassy in Israel.”
MKs protest outside Knesset
Protesters blocked several points around the Knesset while police attempted to remove those who sat on the road.
Opposition MKs protesting against the government also positioned their offices outside the Knesset on Monday.
The Jerusalem Municipality issued an evacuation order for the offices, noting they were erected “without coordination and without receiving the required municipal approval,” the municipality statement read, according to Army Radio.
