GHF pilots Gaza aid distributed by merchants, but factions warn of 'agents and thieves'
Palestinian factions released a joint statement threatening individuals who supported US and Israeli-backed aid sites, which distributed over 1 million meals on Sunday.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) allowed food to be distributed by Gazan merchants who received food from the organization, the foundation reported Sunday.
According to sources from the foundation, the food was transferred to the merchants, who then distributed the food boxes to the citizens. This is in addition to the humanitarian aid distribution centers in Rafah.
The GHF announced it would open a distribution center on Sunday at 12 p.m. in the Saudi neighborhood, and close a second center in Tel Sultan known as the Swedish Village, the organization said in a post on its Facebook page on Sunday morning.
GHF asked individuals not to approach the center in the Saudi neighborhood before 12 p.m., as they would not be able to provide aid before that time.
They also asked individuals not to visit the Swedish Village center until notice of its re-opening.
Palestinian factions warned against supporting aid distribution
“The main goal of the so-called American aid distribution centers is to end UNRWA's mission and liquidate the Palestinian cause as a political issue, transforming it into a relief and humanitarian one,” A joint statement circulating across Palestinian Telegram channels stated. The statement, signed by the ‘Palestinian Resistance Factions,’ claimed that the aid centers intended to forcefully displace and ethnically cleanse Gazans “in implementation of the criminal Trump plan.”
The group called on the international community, primarily Arab organizations and the United Nations, to pressure Israel and the United States to hand over aid distribution to the UN.
“We warn all our people against being lured by any false promises from the Zionist occupation or its mercenaries, agents, and thieves,” the groups wrote, adding that all resistance security forces had “full authority and authorization” to strike anyone who responded to enemy plans.
