Ramat Gan resident Eti Cohen Engel killed in Iranian missile strike
She is the second person to be announced by name killed in the Iranian missile assault after Israel Aloni, a resident of Rishon Lezion.
Ramat Gan resident Eti Cohen Engel was killed in the Iranian missile that hit the city Friday night, the Ramat Gan municipality announced Saturday afternoon.
She is the second person named as killed in the Iranian missile assault on Friday, after Israel Aloni, a resident of Rishon Lezion, was announced earlier on Saturday.
Aloni was in the basement of his home, but not in the safe room at the time of the strike. His son, Eran, told KAN that he was alone at home when he was struck. He described his father as someone who was always willing to help others.
Threats to not harm Israeli civilians
Defense Minister Israel Katz made a statement directed at Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying that if he "continues to fire missiles at Israeli civilians, Tehran will burn."The Iranian dictator is turning the citizens of Iran into hostages and bringing about the reality that they, and in particular the residents of Tehran, will pay a heavy price for the criminal harm done to the citizens of Israel."
Residents complained that they received no prior alert from the Home Front Command’s advance-warning system and heard only the standard air-raid siren after the explosion.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with the mayors of Rishon Lezion, Tel Aviv, and Ramat Gan, his office said Saturday, expressed his condolences over the three fatalities, and asked to relay his message to the families.
He praised the resilience of the residents of the cities and of all Israeli citizens, and told the mayors that the government would provide all necessary assistance for recovery and support.
