Master Chef contestant arrested on suspicion of murder
Man who appeared on popular TV show nabbed in dramatic police raid on suspicion of bank robbery which ended in shooting death of guard.

A man who recently appeared as a contestant on the Master Chef cooking contest TV program was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of carrying out an armed robbery of a bank which ended with the shooting death of a security guard.The suspect, named as Guy Yaakov, was arrested during a dramatic armed police raid in Rishon Lezion on Wednesday, which was witnessed by several members of the public.RELATED:Man found shot to death in Ramle; J'lem woman stabbedOn Augusty 15, Yaniv Engler, a bank security guard, tried to prevent a robbery suspect who covered his face with a motorcycle helmet from carrying out an armed robbery on a Bank Hapoalim branch in the town of Be'er Yaakov, near Ramle. Engler suffered multiple gun shot wounds and died shortly afterwards.A few weeks before the shooting, the suspect appeared on the Master Chef program, where he announced, "I was a mischievous teenager, a troubled boy. I looked for mischief." Following the robbery, the gunman fled the scene on a motorbike, and escaped despite police checkpoints set up to prevent his escape and the mobilization of a police helicopter.
