The head of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), Ronen Bar, visited the southern Gaza Strip on Thursday, affirming that IDF troops on the ground were at a "high level of readiness to handle various scenarios" ahead of the next expected hostage release on Saturday, Israeli media reported on Thursday.
Bar added that the readiness included being prepared "for a potential security escalation."
