There is no known connection between Israel and the deadly explosion at the Shahid Rajaee port in the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abbas, a political source said on Monday.

The blast killed dozens and wounded over 1,200 people. The incident occurred while Iran was holding a third round of nuclear talks with the US in Oman.

Regarding the ongoing negotiation, the source said that Israel was maintaining “a dialogue with the Americans, and it is not one-sided.”

“We also express our position,” the source added. “There is ongoing communication at many levels. I would not suggest drawing premature conclusions.”

“There is a close and positive relationship between the governments,” they said.

Israeli source: Witkoff comments on Iran's uranium enrichment 'significant'

As for the US special envoy to the Middle East’s remarks, the source said that “Steve Witkoff’s statements regarding the dismantling of enrichment and reprocessing were significant.”

“Similarly, [US Secretary of State] Marco Rubio’s remarks about enrichment outside Iran were important. I am confident that the United States is committed to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons,” they added.

The Qataris have so far been influencing the negotiations negatively, the source said.
