Ukraine commander who tendered resignation over attack says president keeping him in service

The commander of Ukraine's land forces, who tendered his resignation over a deadly Russian attack on a training area, said on Tuesday that President Volodymyr Zelensky had placed his trust in him and was keeping him in service at the front.

"The president listened, expressed support and encouraged me to focus on the most important things -- the war, the front and victory," Major General Mykhailo Drapaty wrote on Facebook.

"The president has given me a new assignment. I remain in service. On the front line."
