First rains fall across north and central Israel
The rain is expected to continue throughout the day Friday.

The first shower rains of the season were seen in Israel's north and central cities early Friday morning.

After several days of high temperatures, the temperature is expected to go down over Thursday night and remain lower than usual for the season throughout the weekend. Due to flood warnings, the Nature and Parks Authority announced temporary closures of hiking trails in the Judean Desert, Ynet reported.
The rain comes amid the Sukkot holiday, which is around the time it usually starts every year. On Simhat Torah, worshipers begin saying "Mashiv haruah u'morid hagashem" in prayers to pray for the rain.
