NSC issues warning for Israelis abroad following airstrikes on Iran
The measures advised by the NSC include avoiding displaying Jewish or Israeli symbols in public spaces, and avoid attending large events associated with Israel or Judaism.
Israel's National Security Council (NSC) urged Israelis abroad to take precautionary measures given the increased risk of Iran-backed terror groups carrying out revenge attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets worldwide following Israel's strikes on Iran as part of Operation "Rising Lion" on Friday morning.
The measures advised by the NSC include avoiding displaying Jewish or Israeli symbols in public spaces, and avoiding attending large events associated with Israel or Judaism.
The NSC also advised against posting details that could identify your location or travel plans on social media.
Israelis abroad are also advised by NSC to maintain heightened vigilance in public places and to cooperate with local security forces and immediately follow their instructions if exposed to hostile activity.
The Community Security Trust in the UK said it strongly requests that the UK Jewish community "be vigilant and follow the strict security measures that are in place at communal buildings, events and areas."
It stressed that its warning was not based on concrete intelligence, but rather on Iran's proclivity to attack Jews and Israelis around the world.
Situational awareness around Jewish organizations, events
Similarly, Community Security Service in the US asked community members to increase situational awareness around Jewish organizations and events and review security protocols if organizing an event or preparing for Shabbat services."We are aware of reports that Israel is striking targets in Iran. CSS is in communication with our communal and law enforcement partners to assess potential implications for the U.S. Jewish community."
The Anti Defamation League also said it is in contact with Jewish communities in the US and the ADL Center on Extremism is actively monitoring for threats & reactions while remaining in close contact with law enforcement.
Jewish Community Protection Service in France (SPCJ) published a statement urging its community to exercise "heightened vigilance."
"This conflict could last several weeks," it continued, adding that "in this context, it is possible that Iran, either directly or through its proxies, may attempt to target Jewish or Israeli individuals abroad."
SPCJ directed community members towards its guidelines, and emphasized that it remains fully mobilized and in close contact with the relevant authorities.
This is a developing story.
