The number of new corona cases has declined 42.9% over the past seven days compared with the previous week, the number of new serious cases decreased 40%, and the number of deaths per week has dropped by about half, the Health Ministry reported on Sunday.
A total of 5,987 corona cases were recorded on Saturday, and 16.58% of the 36,106 PCR and antigen tests tested positive. The actual number of positive cases was likely higher due to a combination of the usual lower testing rates over the weekend, as well as asymptomatic cases going undetected.
Currently, 646 people were in serious condition, including 268 in critical condition, of whom 232 were intubated and 26 were connected to ECMO machines.
As of Sunday morning, Israel has recorded 10,126 deaths attributed to corona since the start of the pandemic, including 124 over the past seven days, a drop of 51.2%.
The R-rate has stabilized at 0.67 for the past week.
As of Sunday morning, 1,289 soldiers had corona and were in mild condition, and 978 were isolating in their homes, the IDF reported.
