The government rejected protests by some Danish opposition parties that said banning Quran burnings would infringe on free speech.

"The fact that Denmark has now decided to donate 19 F-16 aircraft to Ukraine leads to an escalation of the conflict," Russian Ambassador Vladimir Barbin said in a statement.

“It’s the Garden of Eden in many ways,” said Paul Cohen, who is 61. “I feel like I’m living in the heart of a national park."

Dutch F-16s were called into action Monday morning, but the Russian bombers were intercepted before they could enter Dutch NATO airspace.

There is a misconception lying at the heart of the issue that is perhaps at the root cause of the problem, namely, that text desecration is “expression.”

Denmark agreed to purchase artillery systems from Israel's Elbit Systems after having donated much of its own weapon systems to Ukraine.

The continuous repetition of insults against the Quran in Denmark and Sweden needs to end, and the authorities in both countries must confront these violations firmly and decisively. 

Denmark is tightening border control due to security concerns after Quran burnings.

The Danish government said it would seek to make legal changes that will ban Quran burnings.

Egypt summoned Sweden's chargé d'affaires to condemn incidents where copies of the Koran have been burned, the foreign ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday.
