Some 90% of a Swiss village has been covered by a large landslide on Wednesday following the partial collapse of a glacier, a local official said.
"We had a first event that was massive, which at first glance covered 90% of the village," Stephane Ganzer, State Councillor of Valais, told Swiss media.
A huge chunk of a glacier broke off on Wednesday afternoon in the Swiss Alps, causing a deluge of ice and rock to crash down towards the village of Blatten, which had been evacuated earlier this month due to the risk of a rockslide.
