Israel-Hamas War: What happened on day 60?

Britain is considering sending military support vessel RFA Lyme Bay to provide medical and humanitarian aid in the Middle East, defense minister Grant Shapps said on Tuesday, in an update on the Gaza war.

"I'm considering whether RFA Lyme Bay can support medical and humanitarian aid provision," Shapps told lawmakers.

During Ramadan 2022, a fictional series aired on Palestinian television that seemingly predicted elements of the October 7 tragedy.

The series showcased scenarios that, shockingly, materialized in reality, including Hamas terrorists infiltrating Israeli settlements and the abduction of IDF soldiers.

Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, commended the creators and cast of the series and hosted them in his office.

A building in Ashkelon received a direct hit from a barrage of rockets from the Gaza Strip on Tuesday afternoon, Israeli media reported.

United Hatzalah volunteers treated several people including a woman in her 60s who was injured when a rocket fired by Hamas hit a residential building in Ashkelon.

Qatar's emir on Tuesday called on the UN Security Council to force Israel to return to the negotiating table over the war in Gaza, saying the inaction by the international community in halting the conflict was "shameful".

"It is shameful for the international community to allow this heinous crime to continue for nearly two months, during which the systematic and deliberate killing of innocent civilians continues, including women and children," Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani said in a speech to Gulf leaders gathered in the Qatari capital Doha for a regional summit.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit presented a report on Tuesday detailing the methods used by Hamas to successfully turn civilian neighborhoods into zones of terror within the Gaza Strip, allowing them to place terrorism over the lives of civilians.

Historically, Hamas has used civilian infrastructure like schools and mosques to hide weapons and missiles. Since the start of the IDF's ground operation, weapons have been found in children's bedrooms, in kindergartens, and Shifa Hospital among other locations.

Hostages were given tranquilizers like clonex and other "vitamins" by Hamas to "look happy" during their escort from captivity to Israeli territory, according to Dr. Hagar Mizrahi, the head of the medical division of Israel's Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry reviewed the cases of returnees, leading the chairman of the health committee, Yoni Meshariki, to call for the publishing of a detailed report to show health organizations across the world on the medical findings of returned hostages. 

Expressions of agony survived their deaths, army reservist Shari Mendes said she described what experts saw as they identified and prepared for the burial of the female bodies of Hamas’s October 7 massacre.

“These women arrived with their eyes opened, their mouths in grimaces, their fists clenched,” said Mendes, whose IDF rabbinical unit worked with the bodies, all of whom were brought to the IDF's Shura base.

The Israeli Defense Forces on Tuesday released the names of two additional soldiers fallen in combat in Gaza:

Cap. Yahel Gazit, 24 years old, and Sgt. (res.) Gil Daniels, 34 years old. 

Israeli Air Force planes attacked a series of Hezbollah targets in Lebanon on Tuesday, according to an IDF statement. 

Earlier on Tuesday, the IDF identified several rocket launches from Lebanon that fell in various open areas of northern Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the names of three fallen soldiers on Tuesday morning.

Sgt. Yakir Yedidya Schenkolewski, 21, from Migdal Oz; Capt. Eitan Fisch, 23, from Peduel; and St.-Sgt. Tuval Yaakov Tsanani, 20, from Kiriyat Gat.
