Security forces arrest 18 in West Bank, IDF intercepts missile from Yemen

The IDF interpreted a projectile fired from Yemen toward central Israel during the early hours of Tuesday morning, the IDF said shortly following the incident.

The IDF on Tuesday released its final probe regarding Hamas’s killing and the IDF’s finding of six hostages on August 31 in a tunnel at Tel Sultan in Rafah in southern Gaza.

According to the IDF, its military actions in Tel Sultan were not deficient, though the military has also concluded that those actions did likely lead the Hamas terrorists guarding the hostages to execute them.

The IDF conducted a limited operation against terrorists and terror infrastructure in the area of Jabalya's Indonesian Hospital, Israel's military said on Tuesday evening.

It explained that the reason for the operation was due to terrorists carrying out strikes against the IDF from the area of the hospital, which included anti-missile attacks.

It is also said that terrorists had planted explosive devices and booby traps in the area surrounding the hospital’s compound. 

Security forces arrested 18 wanted persons overnight and confiscated weapons across the West Bank, the military said on Tuesday. 

Hannah Katzir, who was released along with 50 other hostages held by Hamas in a deal in November 2023,  died at the age of 76, Kibbutz Nir Oz announced on Tuesday.  

"With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Kibbutz member Hannah Katzir, of blessed memory, following a prolonged struggle with complex medical issues after her release from captivity," the statement read.

Her funeral is set to be held at Kibbutz Nir Oz at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar directed Israel’s diplomatic missions across Europe, including those in EU member states and the UK, to push for the designation of Ansar Allah, also known as the Houthis, as a terrorist organization on Tuesday. 

This announcement came just hours after a ballistic missile from Yemen was intercepted before it could enter Israeli airspace, triggering sirens across central Israel.

Sa’ar emphasized the importance of the directive, saying, “The Houthis pose a threat not only to Israel but to the region and the entire world. The direct threat to freedom of navigation in one of the busiest maritime routes globally is a challenge to the international community and the world order. The most basic and fundamental step is to designate them as a terrorist organization.”

"The achievement was tremendous, and the attack was historic," Lt.-Col. Tomer, commander of the INS Herev, a Sa'ar 4.5-class missile boat that carried out naval attacks in Syria earlier this month, shared of the strike.

As the ship departed from its home port in Haifa, the soldiers thought they were heading to a live-fire training exercise at sea.

 "I realized that we managed to keep the mission such a tight secret that even the soldiers didn’t know what mission they were embarking on," said the Lt.-Col.

Three soldiers, Capt. Ilay Gavriel Atedgi, St.-Sgt. Netanel Pessach, and Sgt.-Maj. Hillel Diener, were killed in the northern Gaza Strip overnight on Sunday, the military announced Monday evening.

All three served in the Shimshon Battalion of the Kfir Brigade and were operating in Beit Lahiya.

Atedgi, 22, was from Kiryat Motzkin, and served as a deputy commander; Pessach, 21, was from Elazar; and Diener, 21, was from Talmon.
