Police arrest mayor in Sharon area suspected of sexual offenses

According to allegations, the mayor sexually assaulted and harmed several women, some of whom worked with him in the municipality, exploiting his position of power.

Israel Police arrested a mayor in the Sharon area suspected of sexual offenses, obstruction of justice, and breach of trust, the police said on Monday. 

He is expected to be brought before the Haifa Magistrate's Court to request an extended detention.

According to allegations, the mayor sexually assaulted and harmed several women, some of whom worked with him in the municipality, exploiting his position of power.

A Molotov cocktail was thrown at a synagogue in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, on Saturday night, raising alarm in the Jewish community amid a series of disturbing antisemitic incidents.

The attack came just days after a Jewish community vehicle was vandalized in the same city.
