IDF confirms deaths of two Iranian officials in Israeli strikes
The head of the Intelligence Directorate of the Iranian armed forces and the commander of the ballistic missile array in the IRGC Air Force were both killed during Operation Rising Lion.
The head of the Intelligence Directorate of the Iranian armed forces and the commander of the ballistic missile array in the IRGC Air Force were both killed in the opening Israeli strike in Operation Rising Lion, the IDF confirmed Saturday.
Intelligence Directorate head Gholam-Al-Marhab was responsible for intelligence assessments for the Iranian regime and was considered the highest-ranking intelligence officer in Iran.
Eliminating threats to Israel
Marhab was involved in intelligence evaluations, operational planning, and directing attacks against Israel over the past year and earlier. He was also a highly respected and influential figure within the Iranian regime and was close to the head of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, who was also killed.The commander of the ballistic missile array in the IRGC Air Force, Mohammad Bagheri, was responsible for most of Iran’s surface-to-surface and long-range cruise missile capabilities, which pose a central threat to the State of Israel.
He was killed along with IRGC Air Force Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh and several other senior officials at an underground command center in Tehran.
Operation Rising Lion
Israel launched Operation Rising Lion on Thursday night, targeting much of the Islamic regime's nuclear and military sites and leadership.In response to the attacks, Tehran launched an aerial barrage against Israel, killing multiple civilians and wounding dozens more. The two countries continue to exchange blows and Tehran has since rescinded its participation in talks with the United States for a nuclear deal.
