I was petered out and just wanted to make something easy and quick for Shabbat dinner. But since my kids were joining us, I still needed to prepare a decent Shabbat meal.

I still felt like a novice, so I reached out to Ruben Maislos, who is Instagram famous and specializes in cooking meat dishes in tabun ovens.

If you want to go all out and have hamentashen for more than just dessert, here are some novel ideas to create other foods with the hamentashen theme. 

It’s amazing to see how each Jewish community around the world has special recipes for meals and desserts that are traditionally prepared for Purim.

I chose to bring you this week recipes for cream cake rolls like the ones I used to make when I was young.

The recipes really live up to the hype. There are quick and easy options for weeknights, and fancy ones for Shabbat and holiday guests, some with beautiful presentation tips, and all delicious.

For this week, I chose three types of cake bases, and within a few hours I’d created three different fancy desserts, which I immediately put in the fridge, to be taken out just before serving. 

At the beginning of each week, I spend time planning my Shabbat menu, thinking about which type of dough would work for each dish.
