In the wake of the October 7 attack on Israel in which Hamas massacred 1,400 people, Iran sent its foreign minister to meet Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Doha.
Sardar Abolfazl Shekarchi accused the United States of oppressing the Middle East and of murdering hundreds of millions of people.
Top officials from Iran and Gaza’s terror rulers also spoke by telephone at least four times this year.
Iran is also trying to put out messaging suggesting that Gaza will “swallow” IDF forces if Israel launches the expected incursion.
Iran recently was able to get out from under sanctions on its missile program and is looking to expand its defense imports and exports.
In a search to find a way to keep their initiative against Israel going, Iran has tried to mobilize militias in Iraq, Syria and Yemen.
It was not immediately clear if or when the United States planned to put the draft resolution to a vote.
"The Zionist regime's officials should be tried for their crimes against Palestinians in Gaza," Khamenei added.
