J. D. Vance is a Republican senator from the US state of Ohio. A longtime critic of former US president Donald Trump, he became one of Trump's defenders as his political career began, entering the Senate in 2023 after being elected in 2022. He has since been appointed Trump's running mate and vice presidential pick for the 2024 US presidential elections.
Vance is also the author of a bestselling memoir, Hillbilly Elegy.
Vance seemed to back the flagship policy of a party that has unsettled Germany’s Jews.

Recent polls show that Pennsylvania has the potential to make or break the election.
"Sometimes we're going to have overlapping interest, and sometimes we're going to have a distinct interest," he noted.
"Donald Trump was a great ally and friend of Israel. Kamala Harris has been a total disaster," Vance said.

The senators described the draft resolution as a "clear insult to the Jewish people and anyone who understands history."
"I am relieved that the former President is unharmed," Biden wrote.
The Republican Jewish Coalition announced plans this week for a $10-million ad campaign (on top of $5 million already spent) to win Jewish voters for the GOP.
