In the meeting, the two discussed the launch of a joint business delegation, moving the Argentinian Embassy to Jerusalem, and Argentina declaring Hamas as a terrorist organization.
Hamas called on Milei to “rescind this unjust and wrong decision, which places Argentina as a partner to the Zionist occupier.”
Milei’s schedule includes visiting the president at his official residence and being accompanied by him to Yad Vashem on Wednesday, as well as to Kibbutz Nir Oz, near the Gaza border.
The Argentinian president announced his intention to have his country recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization.
"In the coming weeks I will be traveling to the Holy Land in what will constitute a new chapter in the brotherhood between our two nations," said Milei.
Other prominent attendees included Argentine Vice President Victoria Villaruel; the US and Israeli ambassadors to Argentina, Marc Stanley and Eyal Sela; and the mayor of Buenos Aires, Jorge Macri.
Milei, a fiery economist turned political disrupter, pledges warmer ties with Israel and the US, distancing Argentina from its erstwhile allies in the socialist bloc.
Javier Milei, a far-right upstart who backs Israel and has said he wants one day to convert to Judaism, has drawn a range of reactions from Jewish groups in Argentina.
Argentine President-elect Javier Milei also recently announced his plans to convert to Judaism.
