US denies reported plan to cut its troops in South Korea, local newspaper says

The US Defense Department denied a news report of a plan to reduce American troops stationed in South Korea by 4,500 as "not true," South Korea's Chosun Ilbo newspaper said on Friday.

This followed a report by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, which cited "defense officials familiar with the discussions" to withdraw the US troops.
