Hamas, PIJ congregate in Gaza City ahead of hostage release

Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists have begun congregating in Gaza City ahead of the planned release of Israeli hostages in the second week of the ceasefire, according to a Reuters alert. 

The handover is imminent, with hundreds of terrorists occupying the square, according to Al Jazeera. The four hostages have reportedly yet to arrive. The Qatari state media source also said that there are more Hamas terrorists physically at the location of the hostage swap than the one on Sunday.

The Israel National Mine Action Authority has cleared some 200 mines from the Syrian border area of the Golan Heights over the past two weeks, the Defense Ministry stated in a Thursday post to X/Twitter.

An area of approximately 12.5 acres has reportedly thus far been cleared.

Israel estimates that preparations will begin in Gaza in the coming hours to return the hostages Daniella Gilboa, Karina Ariev, Liri Albag, and Naama Levy, Israeli public broadcaster KAN reported on Saturday morning, citing a security source.

According to reports, Red Cross vehicles have entered southern Gaza to retrieve the hostages. The hostages' parents are waiting for them at the IDF base in Kibbutz Re'im, Israeli media reported.

The IDF issued an urgent warning to the residents of the Gaza Strip on Saturday morning, cautioning them against approaching areas of Gaza that remain off-limits.

"Pay attention to all the details to prevent any misunderstandings and to maintain your safety," IDF Arabic language spokesperson Colonel Avichay Adraee wrote on X/Twitter in Arabic. "All existing instructions are still in effect and will remain so until new instructions are issued with the transition to the next stage of the agreement."
