Opposition MKs called the proposed haredi draft exemption bill harmful to IDF soldiers and warned of an intense parliamentary and public struggle to block its swift passage.
Opposition leader Yesh Atid MK Yair Lapid previously called the bill an "an attack on Israeli democracy and on Israeli freedom of expression."
Yisrael Beytenu chairman MK Avigdor Liberman warned Iran will "continue its efforts to obtain nuclear weapons, and continue supplying Hezbollah, the Houthis, and other Shi'ite militias."
"I want to refute the statement that somehow the current government and the political echelon were not aware Hamas was not deterred," said Lapid.
Controversy surrounds the October 7 state memorial in Ofakim, with many victim families and kibbutzim rejecting government involvement.
Lapid said that his party would not allow this to happen "with polite protest from the sidelines."
